In case of emergency, stay calm and call 112

First aid stands for help given to an injured or ill person at the scene of the emergency. Emergency first aid means the control of basic vital signs of the injured or ill person and preventing the patient’s condition from worsening. First aid skills are civic skills and part of basic safety. Skills can be acquired and practiced. Already with some basic skills someone’s life can be saved and permanent disability can be prevented. According to law everyone has the duty to help one another in case of an emergency. First aid training is given for example by Suomen Punainen Risti (The Finnish Red Cross). SPR has also gathered comprehensive information about first aid instructions.
